Senate Hearing: The Future of Journalism

Remarkably absent from this Senate Hearing were the very advertising agencies and marketers who support the newspaper industry. Advertising is what supports newspapers.

No one here took a moment to engage the advertising media buyers, such as Publicis Groupe Media, or any of their major clients who spend millions on print media ads each year in publications.

Until publishers and the journalism industry learn to craft a solution that delivers targeted and relevant advertising in print, that can be tracked and responded to online by readers, print publishing will continue to see its advertising base erode and go elsewhere.
